FLY: ARTIST TALK + WORKSHOP FROM NEW YORK CITY

Fly, Visiting Artist (New York City?s Lower Eastside) Friday, October 20, 6:30-9pm, free, refreshments served. Get the scoop on NYC artist and cartoonist Fly and her latest book, Peops, published by Soft Skull Press. The evening will include a 40-minute dvd consisting of a collection of portraits and stories about people Fly has met from all over the world. The sketches and conversations reflect the deep and beautiful way Fly interacts with her drawing subjects. A journaling workshop will follow the artist talk. People should feel free to bring sketchbooks &/or journals with them, or supplies will be provided. Fly has been squatting in the Lower East Side of Manhattan since 1990 where she paints and draws comics and illustrations. Her work has been published in the New York Press, Village Voice, Raygun, Bikini, World War III Illustrated, Maximumrocknroll, Slug & Lettuce and other publications.
