EDEN ROBINSON WORKSHOP
October 3, 2006
October 19, 1pm, Free Redwire Native Youth Media + Gallery Gachet presents an afternoon reading and writing workshop for youth, with award-winning author Eden Robinson. Born in Kitamaat, British Columbia, Eden is a member of the Haisla and Heiltsuk First Nations. Traplines (1995), Robinson?s first book, became an international sensation, receiving a nod from the New York Times as a Notable Book of the Year. In 2000, Robinson followed up with her first novel, Monkey Beach. Set on the Kitamaat reserve, the novel (which was nominated for both a Giller Prize and a Governor General?s Award, and is being made into a movie) mixes social realism with visits from spirit beings. Blood Sports (2006), Robinson?s latest book, revisits characters from earlier writings, set up north and on Vancouver?s East Side. Last year celebrated Canadian writer bill bissett joined us at Gachet, and we are equally excited about this year?s collaboration! For more info or to preregister contact the Gallery.
